About Armenian Scandinavian Union (ASU)

 

Who We Are

The Armenian Scandinavian Union (ASU) is a non-profit organization based in Denmark, dedicated to strengthening the Armenian community in Scandinavia and fostering cultural exchange between Armenian and Scandinavian societies. Founded with a commitment to preserving Armenian identity in Scandinavia, ASU works to promote Armenian art, culture, and heritage, promote Armenian interests while building bridges of intercultural understanding.

All our work is carried out on a voluntary basis. The union is governed by a board, and all members pay an annual fee to help cover the various expenses associated with the projects the union undertakes.

To create a vibrant and united Armenian community in Scandinavia that thrives while maintaining its rich cultural heritage, and to serve as a bridge between Armenian and Scandinavian cultures through mutual respect and collaboration.

 

Our Mission

Preserve Armenian Identity

Support initiatives that strengthen Armenian traditions, language, and heritage within the Scandinavian Armenian community.

Promote Armenian Culture

Showcase Armenian art, music, literature, and history to Scandinavian audiences through events, exhibitions, and educational programs.

Strengthen Community Bonds

Foster unity among Armenians in Scandinavia by providing a platform for networking, dialogue, and collective action.

Advocate for Armenian Interests

  • Uphold the safety and fundamental rights of the people of Artsakh among them their right to collective return to their ancestral homeland and self-determination.
  • Develop stronger ties between Scandinavian countries, and Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), supporting dialogue and cooperation.
  • Promote the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, seeking justice, remembrance, and reparations for this crime against humanity.

Encourage Intercultural Dialogue

Facilitate meaningful exchanges between Armenian and Scandinavian communities to promote understanding and cooperation.

Through cultural festivals, lectures, workshops, and partnerships with local organizations, ASU actively engages in activities that highlight Armenia’s contributions to global culture while integrating the Armenian community into Scandinavian society.
