Statement on The Washington D.C. Betrayal

August 9, 2025

We didn’t expect any good to come from the August 8th memorandum signed by Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev in Washington D.C., not after the bitter lessons of his past surrenders. We remember the capitulation of November 9, 2020, brokered by Russia. We remember October 2022 in Prague, brokered by the EU. We remember how Artsakh was handed to Azerbaijan. Now, with Trump hosting, the pattern repeats, only this time, Armenia itself is at stake.

What was signed in the White House is not peace. It is the dismantling of Armenia’s sovereignty. Under the guise of diplomacy, Nikol Pashinyan conceded to Azerbaijani demands that demolish our statehood and endanger the region for generations. The Armenian people were kept in the dark while decisions were made behind closed doors. This deal is treason.

The winners

Let’s be clear about who benefits:

  1. Azerbaijan:
    ◦ Gets its “Zangezur Corridor”, packaged in a Trump-ego-stroking name, but ensuring unobstructed passage through sovereign Armenian land.
    ◦ Achieves the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, erasing the last international framework for Armenian rights.
    ◦ Restores military cooperation with the U.S., rewarding Baku’s aggression.
  2. Nikol Pashinyan:
    ◦ Gains ammunition for his propaganda machine. He will spin this surrender as a “peace-bringing” victory to manipulate the public ahead of the 2026 elections, clinging to power at any cost.
  3. Donald Trump:
    ◦ Scores a photo-op for his “peacemaker” legacy and a joker card in the region’s geopolitical game.

The loser: Armenia

While the Turkish-Azerbaijani axis tightens its grip on the South Caucasus, Armenia gains absolute zero:

  • No guarantees for Armenian hostages.
  • No right of return for Artsakh’s Armenians.
  • No enforceable protection for Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh.

Just hollow symbolism about “peace” and “prosperity.”

The geopolitical skunk

Nikol has dragged Armenia into a regional crisis. The corridor isn’t a “harmless transport link” – it’s a geopolitical powder keg. Iran has repeatedly warned against third-party involvement in such routes. Pushing this through is a dangerous provocation that will ignite the region.

This isn’t over

Azerbaijan has made it clear: This is not the final deal. Next, they’ll demand Armenia change its Constitution, erasing Artsakh and solidifying our defeat. Nikol will fake elections, jail opponents, and break every rule to stay in power and deliver Armenia’s funeral.

Enough. Resist

This isn’t just a bad deal, it’s the gravestone of the Republic of Armenia. A betrayal of our history, our martyrs, and our future. Nikol Pashinyan has no mandate to surrender our sovereignty.

To every Armenian in the homeland and diaspora: we call you to unite against this surrender. Our land, our dignity, and our survival are at stake. Resist. Fight. Defend the values, sovereignty, and ancient lands handed to us through the blood of generations.

To global powers and media: Stop circulating this disaster as “peace.” Stand with the truth and Armenian people, not Nikol Pashinyan. This is not a peace agreement. It is national suicide.
